Musical Theatre Song & Dance (11-14)
Class Schedule: Sept 15 - Oct 27Thursdays: 5-6pmAge Group: 11-14 yrsCourse Description:Broadway veteran and local legend, Judy Greenhut, will share original Broadway choreography from hit shows like Pippin, A Chorus Line, Peter Pan, and Fiddler on the Roof. Students will learn traditional dance technique and the individual styles required for so many musical theatre showstoppers. Judy is accompanied by the dazzling music stylings of Amanda Hunter,, who will help students master the vocals to go along with the moves. Together this dynamic duo will help performers master the art of iconic theatre song & dance.
Meet Your InstructorsJudy Greenhut
Judy moved from New York to Kure Beach in 1995. After a Broadway and television dancing career, she began teaching, directing and choreographing. Before moving here, she had directed/choreographed over 50 shows in New York and Europe! She also taught Theatre Dance and Musical Theatre for The Dance Machine. Since moving to North Carolina she has been teaching Theatre Dance and Musical Theatre for Theatre Dance Workshop. Judy has directed and choreographed many shows here, on the Thalian Hall stage including Cabaret, Fiddler On The Roof, Spamalot, Annie and most recently, Sweet Charity. She has also directed & choreographed for TACT children’s theatre, most recently Schoolhouse Rock Live! Judy has also been the Manager of the Thalian Hall Box Office for the past 20 years. Not bad for a dancer that can only count to eight!
Amanda Clawges
Amanda is a passionate and experienced voice instructor dedicated to helping performers find freedom, confidence, and authenticity in their sound. She obtained a Bachelor's of Music in Vocal Performance from East Carolina University. In 2011 she was cast in her first Wilmington theatre show with Opera House Theatre Company, Hairspray. Since then, she has been in or music-directed over 30 shows in the community with companies such as: Thalian Association, Panache, and Opera House Theatre Company. Having been on stage and behind the audition table, she really enjoys helping people hone their craft.
